Meta Title Length Checker — pixel width + Google truncation

Real-time character count and Arial pixel-width gauge for your SEO title tag. Catches Google desktop and mobile truncation before you ship the page.

Preview is approximate — Google may rewrite snippets based on the searcher's query.

Quick frame: A good SERP preview tool needs to render the actual Arial / Roboto fonts Google uses, toggle between desktop and mobile widths, show the breadcrumb above the title, and indicate where Google will cut off. Most don't.

What separates a good preview from a bad one

Bad preview tools use Helvetica or system fonts and call it good — but Google's actual font is Arial on desktop and Roboto on mobile, both with subtle width quirks. A preview that renders in a wider system font under-reports truncation. A preview that hard-codes 60-character cut-off ignores the pixel-width truth.

The good ones share four traits:

  1. Real fonts. Arial 16px desktop, Roboto on mobile.
  2. Pixel-accurate measurement, not character count.
  3. Mobile and desktop toggle, side by side.
  4. Breadcrumb / site-name display, since Google's 2022 update.

Our free Google SERP preview tool hits all four.

What no preview can show

Three SERP elements depend on data outside your control: AI Overview snippets (Google pulls sentences from body content per query), FAQ jump links (requires FAQ schema and editorial trust), and sitelinks (Google chooses based on internal links and click data). To enable richer SERP features, layer in structured data: article schema, FAQ schema, and breadcrumb schema.

The pre-publish workflow

  1. Draft title — check with meta title length checker.
  2. Draft description — check with meta description checker.
  3. Preview the full card with the SERP preview embedded above.
  4. Toggle to mobile, confirm nothing truncates.
  5. Ship.

FAQ

Q. Why do paid preview tools cost so much? A. Most charge for keyword tracking and competitor SERP capture, not the preview itself. The preview alone is a simple browser tool — no API, no database.

Q. Does the preview include the favicon? A. Google shows the favicon on mobile next to the site name. Most preview tools render a placeholder; the actual favicon depends on your setup.

Q. Will my SERP card look different in India vs the US? A. Yes — slightly. Currency formatting in product pages, language fallbacks, and AI Overview behaviour differ by locale. The basic title-URL-description card is consistent globally.
