Age Calculator
Pick a date of birth and an “as of” date — see the exact age in years, months and days. Useful for govt forms, school admission cut-offs, and to know how many days you've been alive.
Next birthday: 2027-01-01 (229 days away)
How the calculation works
We compute years, months and days by walking calendar boundaries — not by dividing total days by 365. That avoids the rounding errors most online calculators make. Leap-year February dates roll forward correctly: a 29 Feb 2000 birthday becomes 28 Feb on non-leap years for age math, but the “next birthday” counter respects the actual leap schedule.
When the exact number matters in India
School admission cut-offs in most Indian states use a precise “as on 31 March” or “as on 30 September” rule — a few days either side can push your child into a different academic year. UPSC, SSC, banking and railway exams also publish strict cut-off dates with years, months and days — not a rounded age. PAN, Aadhaar and passport forms also accept date of birth, not age, but you need to know your exact age to confirm eligibility windows for KVP, SCSS and senior-citizen schemes (60+, 80+).
Things this tool does that simple online calculators miss
- Handles “as of” dates in the past or future, so you can compute age at a future cut-off or on the day of a past event.
- Reports the next-birthday countdown in days, not just “months”.
- Works entirely in your browser. Date of birth never leaves your device — useful when the same DOB is on Aadhaar.

FAQ
Why is my computed age different from age on ID?
IDs (passport, Aadhaar) round to whole years. We compute exact years/months/days. A child born 1 Jan 2020 is "5 years 4 months" in May 2025; the ID just says 5.
Indian age vs Western age?
Same — completed years from birth. Some Asian traditions count from conception (you're "1" at birth) but modern India uses Western convention everywhere.
Pension / retirement age in India?
60 for govt central; 58-60 for PSUs; 60 for most private sector. NPS allows withdrawal at 60. Senior citizen tax benefits start at 60.
