SSY vs PPF — quick comparison

  • SSY rate: 8.2% — currently the highest small-savings rate.
  • PPF rate: 7.1%. Both are fully tax-free.
  • SSY deposits are restricted to first 15 years; PPF runs the full 15 years with extension blocks.
  • Rates are reset every quarter by the Ministry of Finance — past returns ≠ future returns.
