How it works
We normalise broadband plans to ₹ per Mbps per month after GST (18%), then layer the OTT bundle value (Netflix, Prime, Disney+ Hotstar standalone retail prices) and any annual-prepay discount. FUP (Fair Usage Policy) caps determine the post-cap speed — Jio and Airtel publish unlimited fair use; ACT throttles after 3-4 TB on lower plans. Installation fees (₹500-1,500) and security deposits (₹0-1,000) are amortised over a year for the headline ₹/Mbps figure.
Worked example
JioFiber ₹999 plan: 150 Mbps + 14 OTT apps + JioCloud — effective ₹/Mbps ≈ 6.6 after GST, OTT-adjusted closer to ₹3. Airtel Xstream ₹999: 200 Mbps + Netflix Basic + Amazon Prime + Disney+ Hotstar — ₹/Mbps ≈ 5.0, OTT-adjusted ~₹2.5. ACT Bangalore Storm 250 Mbps ₹1,099 — ₹/Mbps ≈ 4.4, no bundled OTT. BSNL Bharat Fiber 100 Mbps ₹449 — ₹/Mbps ≈ 4.5 with the broadest rural reach but spottier service. Excitel and Tata Play Fiber compete aggressively in Tier-1 metros.

FAQ
Why is Jio so cheap?
Jio undercut market in 2016 to grab share. Now market leader. Operates own backbone.

Govt-run, often slower at same price. Best for tier-2/3 cities and rural where private isn't available.
500 Mbps overkill?
For most homes: yes. 100 Mbps handles 4 simultaneous 4K streams. 500 Mbps useful for content creators, gamers.
