JEE Advanced Rank Predictor
JEE Advanced is the gateway to IITs. Out of 360 marks total. Top ~10,000 ranks get IIT seats; CSE at top IITs needs < 1,500.
- Top 100 → BTech CSE at IIT Bombay/Delhi/Madras
- 500-2000 → Top branches at IIT BHU/Hyderabad/Roorkee
- 5,000-10,000 → IIT-level admission likely
- > 10,000 → Likely needs JoSAA spot allocation
How the prediction works
JEE Advanced is scored out of 360 (two papers, 180 each, with partial / negative marking that varies by section). About 2.5 lakh candidates qualify from JEE Main to write Advanced each year; only the top ~16,000–18,000 end up with an IIT seat after JoSAA counselling. We map your normalised score to the historical mark-vs-rank curve (last 3 years averaged) to give a rank band, not a single number.
Score to AIR ballpark
- 300+ — AIR 1–100 (CSE at IIT Bombay / Delhi / Madras)
- 250–299 — AIR 100–500 (top CSE / EE branches across old IITs)
- 200–249 — AIR 500–1,500 (mechanical / chemical at top IITs, CSE at newer IITs)
- 150–199 — AIR 1,500–5,000 (most branches at IIT BHU, ISM, newer IITs)
- 100–149 — AIR 5,000–10,000 (last-batch IIT branches, possible IIT Goa / Bhilai)
- < 100 — outside IIT range; consider NITs via your JEE Main rank instead
When to use this
- Between the JEE Advanced exam and result — estimate likely branches before filling JoSAA preferences
- While planning mock-test targets — see how each 10-mark jump shifts your AIR
- Comparing IIT vs NIT options — pair with our JEE Main rank predictor to see both shortlists
This is a directional estimate using the last 3-year curve — actual rank depends on official normalisation and that year's paper difficulty. Treat the band as ±30% and verify against the official result before locking choices.
FAQ
I cleared Main but not Advanced cutoff — what are my options?
Take JoSAA counselling for NIT / IIIT / GFTI seats based on JEE Main rank. Many NIT-Trichy / Surathkal CSE seats need rank < 5,000 — comparable to mid-tier IITs.
Is Advanced harder than Main?
Conceptually yes — Advanced rewards depth and problem-solving over pattern recognition. The cohort is also self-selected (top 2.5L from Main).
Branch vs college — what should I prefer?
For CSE/AI: college matters less, branch + skills matter more. For core branches: IIT brand matters more for placements / further studies.
