IRCTC PNR Status
Validates your 10-digit PNR and opens the official Indian Railways PNR enquiry page with the number prefilled.
We don't store or query your PNR — clicking takes you to the official Indian Railways PNR enquiry page.
PNR basics
The Passenger Name Record (PNR) is a 10-digit code generated at the time of booking. First digit identifies the booking zone (1 = SCR Secunderabad, 2/3 = NR/CR Delhi/Mumbai, 4 = SR Chennai, etc.). The tool validates format, then opens the official enquiry on indianrail.gov.in / irctc.co.in. We never store or fetch your data — purely a passthrough for privacy.
Reading the chart status
CNF = confirmed, you have a berth. RAC = Reservation Against Cancellation, share a side-lower in pairs; ~80% upgrade to CNF before journey. WL = waitlist, no berth yet. Sub-codes: GNWL general (best clearing chance ~70-90% for Tatkal-eligible trains), RLWL remote location (lower clearing), PQWL pooled quota (lowest), TQWL Tatkal waitlist (almost never clears). Chart prepares 4 hrs before scheduled departure.
When to use this
- Day-of-travel — check whether your WL has cleared after chart prep
- Tatkal booking next day — gauge current waitlist movement
- Multi-leg journey on Rajdhani/Vande Bharat — confirm each PNR separately
- Group booking with one PNR for up to 6 passengers

FAQ
Where can I check PNR status fastest?
IRCTC official site loads slowly during ticket release. Faster alternatives: indianrail.gov.in (govt-run, less traffic), or the "Where is my Train" app. SMS service: send "PNR <number>" to 139.
Why is my PNR "not yet allocated"?
During Tatkal opening, PNRs are not generated for ~30-60 minutes. Wait and refresh. After 1 hour, if still not allocated, check your booking confirmation — payment may have failed.
What does CNF, RAC, WL mean?
CNF = confirmed berth. RAC = Reservation Against Cancellation (you get a sitting place; berth allotted if a CNF cancels). WL = waitlist (no berth; need to be cleared during chart prep). RAC and WL upgrade automatically.
