How polling station lookup works

The Election Commission maintains a national electoral roll across 28 states and 8 UTs, with 96 crore+ registered electors as of 2024. Each elector is mapped to one polling station and a Booth Level Officer (BLO). The official tools — Voter Helpline app, NVSP (nvsp.in), and the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) portals — let you search by EPIC number, mobile number linked to the roll, or name + father's name + DOB.

Worked example

For a voter in Karnataka with EPIC ABC1234567: open the Karnataka CEO portal, enter the EPIC, and the result shows polling station name (e.g. “Govt Higher Primary School, Indiranagar, Booth 142”), the Assembly Constituency (e.g. 175 – C V Raman Nagar) and the Parliamentary Constituency (Bangalore Central). On polling day you must vote at that booth — turning up at the wrong one will result in being turned away.

When to use this

• A week before any general, assembly, panchayat or municipal election
• After moving house — to confirm your roll has shifted, or to file Form 8
• Checking a family member's booth, especially senior citizens
• Verifying that your name is still on the roll after the SIR (Special Intensive Revision)

Before heading out, validate your EPIC with the Voter ID validator — a wrong format usually means a typo on the slip.
