Aadhaar Validator

Check whether a 12-digit Aadhaar number passes UIDAI's Verhoeff checksum. Useful when entering Aadhaar manually — catches typos before submission.

🔒 Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent or stored anywhere.

What this tool does and doesn't do

Does: verify that the 12 digits form a valid Verhoeff checksum and don't start with 0 or 1 (UIDAI rule). Catches single-digit typos and obviously fake numbers.

Doesn't: connect to UIDAI to verify the Aadhaar actually exists or matches a person. For real verification, use the official myAadhaar portal's “Verify Aadhaar Number” service.

Why share masked Aadhaar instead

For non-mandatory verification, share a masked Aadhaar PDF (last 4 digits only). The full Aadhaar plus your photo can be used for identity fraud — open SIM cards, bank accounts, instant loans.

FAQ

How does Verhoeff checksum work?

12-digit Aadhaar uses a Verhoeff algorithm — last digit is computed from the first 11 using a permutation table. Invalid checksum = the number isn't a real Aadhaar.

Can I share Aadhaar publicly?

No — Aadhaar leaks have led to fraud. Use masked Aadhaar (last 4 digits visible). For online auth, use Virtual ID (VID) instead — disposable 16-digit substitute.

How do I verify Aadhaar online?

UIDAI portal "Verify Aadhaar Number" — shows registered state and last 3 digits of mobile (not the rest of the number). Confirms the number exists, not its holder.
