NEET UG Rank Predictor
Approximate AIR from your score (out of 720). Use as a directional estimate while waiting for the actual result.
How NEET score-to-rank is estimated
NEET-UG marks total 720 (180 questions × 4 marks each, with −1 negative marking). The score-to-AIR mapping depends on the cohort that year — roughly 22–24 lakh students appear. The predictor uses the historical NTA percentile distribution: cutoffs shift by 10–30 marks year-on-year based on paper difficulty, but the percentile-to-rank curve is stable enough to give you a useful directional estimate.
Score → AIR ballpark
- 720–700 — AIR 1–500 (top medical colleges, AIIMS Delhi/Madras possible)
- 699–660 — AIR 500–3,000 (state-quota AIIMS, JIPMER, top state govt MBBS)
- 659–620 — AIR 3,000–10,000 (most govt MBBS via NEET-UG counselling)
- 619–580 — AIR 10,000–25,000 (mid-tier govt colleges + top private)
- 579–520 — AIR 25,000–80,000 (private MBBS, BDS, top BAMS)
- 519–460 — AIR 80,000–2,00,000 (private BDS, BAMS, BHMS)
- 459–137 (qualifying threshold for General) — AIR 2L+ (paramedical, repeat year option)
What the rank actually gets you
AIR alone doesn't determine admission — it's rank within your category (General / OBC / SC / ST / EWS) plus state-quota vs all-India quota that decides counselling outcomes. 85% of state-quota MBBS seats go to state-domicile candidates; AIR 30,000 from Tamil Nadu fills a Madras Medical College seat that AIR 10,000 from Bihar might not get. Always check both AIQ and state cutoffs.
Important caveat
This is an approximation — actual results depend on official NTA normalisation and the year's applicant pool. Use it to plan college choices, not to make irreversible decisions. The official rank is the only source of truth; this tool is an estimate when you're waiting for results or evaluating mock-test scores.
FAQ
What NEET rank gets me into a govt MBBS?
AIQ govt seats: roughly < 17,000 for general. State quota varies — Tamil Nadu / Karnataka: < 10,000; UP / Maharashtra: < 30,000 for state govt seats. For private + management quota: ranks up to ~5L are workable but at high cost.
Does category affect this prediction?
No — these ranks are general (open) AIR. Category-specific cutoffs (SC/ST/OBC) are typically 2-5× higher rank than general for the same college, due to reservation.
Will my rank fluctuate at result?
Yes — by design. NEET rank is a stat function of all 22 lakh+ takers. Predictor heuristics are based on past distributions; new year's actual rank can differ ±15% for moderate scores.
